For those looking to take a break from skiing in the winter, snowshoeing is a nice change of pace and an excellent way to take in the sights of the Utah backcountry. Alta visitors can explore on groomed trails, or venture into the woods for a snow-filled excursion. Snowmobiling and nordic skiing are also wonderful Alta winter activities, providing a nice way to enjoy our fresh winter air.
The summer season brings out a different side of Alta Ski Area, with awesome hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing. Rock climbing in Alta, Utah is also popular near the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon, and nearby Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort provides recreation, music and entertainment throughout the summer. The annual Wildflower Festival celebrates the beauty of multitudes of wildflowers in the Wasatch Mountains, and the Albion Basin campground opens for summer camping when the snow melts, and it generally closes shortly after Labor Day- just in time for the peak of wildflower season! From an abundance of outdoor recreation to events, festivals, concerts, and more, there's always something to do in Alta.
