Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Opening weekend at Alta Ski Area started off with a bang. The first storm of the season delivered 25” inches of powder for the eagerly-awaiting Alta fans over Friday and Saturday.
People showed up with reservations. The weather forecast said “snow” but everyone’s summer-conditioned bodies and memories of sunny closing days told us to open it like we closed it: costumes, sunshine, and goofy skiing. Instead, we were treated to 8” all morning, and wind-buffed powder after the storm picked up mid-day.
Finding pockets of visibility was just as important as finding your ski buddies in the lift line on Saturday while on Sunday everyone was treated to an equally delicious bluebird ski day.
Each day there was something new to experience: while lines were long at
times on Friday, the crowds were happy as we were all stoked to be at Alta again. A powder day on day two of the season helped us remembering how fun it is. Sunshine and Sugarloaf on day three.
Alta had something for everyone. Perfect conditions, short lift lines, fluffy powder and crystal-clear skies. It’s the opening weekend you dreamed about during the summer.
You have to experience Alta. Book your getaway today – the forecast has more storms on the way!
